WWW.CPPSSITE.COM – Welcoming Vesak 2568 BE/2024, as many as 44 Thudong monks conducted self-training on foot from Semarang to Borobudur, Magelang, Central Java. Currently, monks from 4 countries in Southeast Asia have arrived in Semarang regency. The tudong monks come from Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia itself.
Public Relations Coordinator of Indonesian Buddhist Representatives (Walubi), Eric Fernando said, in addition to self-training, the series of Vesak will be filled with taking holy water at Umbul Jumprit Temanggung, eternal fire at Mrapen Grobogan and also social services in the form of free medicine.
“Self-training by thudong monks has started from May 15 and today has arrived in Semarang Regency,” said Eric.
Upon arrival in Magelang Regency on May 20 at 14.00 WIB, Tudong monks will be greeted by the committee at the Kalpataru gate of Borobudur Temple complex. Next they will do pradaksina or surround in the structure of Borobudur temple building.
Eric also said that after the Covid 19 pandemic, his party opened as wide as possible to the public who would watch the activities of Vesak seconds / / The Committee has provided three locations, namely in Marga Utama, zone 1 of the Kenari field and zone 2 of Tman Lumbini.
According to Eric, the event that is eagerly awaited by residents is the lantern flight. This year the organizers flew 2568 lanterns in accordance with this year’s Buddhist year.
He added, for the Vesak seconds activity, the committee invited several ministers, such as the minister of religion, the minister of parekraf, and the minister of SOEs. The committee estimated, Buddhists who will attend in the second of Vesak reached 25 people, from all corners of the country and also neighboring countries.
